Since we launched Notify Arrival in September, we've been working through the details that make the app more dependable on a real trip. Here's what's new.
Times Are Always Local to the Airport
When you add or edit a flight by hand, you now type the departure and arrival times exactly as they appear on your ticket: the local time at each airport. A line under each field shows which time zone applies, for example "Local time at the arrival airport (Asia/Dubai)". The app works out the rest, so a flight entered on a phone set to Detroit time is just as correct as one entered in Dubai.
Hotels, car rentals and activities show the local time at the place too, on every device. And hotel stays imported from email now always show the right check-in and check-out dates, wherever you're reading them.
Reminders at 8 AM Where Your Trip Starts
Trip reminders used to go out at 8 AM Detroit time for everyone. They now arrive at 8 AM local time where your trip begins, so a trip starting in Tokyo doesn't wake you up at night. Check-in reminders show the departure airport's local time as well.
Alerts That Take You to the Right Flight
- Tap an alert, see the flight. A delay or gate change notification now opens that flight in the app, not the home page.
- One alert per flight, not a pile. Updates about different flights stack separately, so a gate change on your connection doesn't replace the delay alert for your first leg.
- Only changes that matter. Delay alerts are sent when the delay changes by 15 minutes or more, or when the flight is back on time.
- Delays clear properly. When a delayed flight catches up, the app shows it on time again.
Your Own Forwarding Address
Every account now has a private forwarding address. Forward bookings from any mailbox, or let someone else send them, and they land in your trips.
Your Data, in Your Hands
In Settings you'll find two new buttons. Download my data gives you everything in your account (trips, flights, hotels, activities and notifications) as one file. Delete my account removes your account and everything in it, and cancels your subscription, after you confirm with your password. Our updated Privacy Policy explains exactly what we keep and for how long.
Faster, Steadier and Easier to Use
- Works better on a weak connection. A slow answer no longer makes the app say "Offline", and trips you delete no longer reappear from the phone's saved copy.
- No surprise reloads. When we release an update, the app offers it with a "New version available" banner instead of reloading while you're typing.
- Accessible to more people. Every form field is properly labelled, everything works with a keyboard, dialogs close with Escape, focus is clearly visible, and text contrast meets accessibility guidelines in all three themes. You can also zoom in again.
- A sharper home-screen icon on iPhone and Android, and the website loads faster.
All of this is live now for everyone, including on the free trial. If you have the app on your home screen, it updates the next time you open it.
